I can't speak for everyone that was present, but I found the atmosphere, food and service delightful. Come and join us the for the next event. I took some pictures and put them together in a slideshow for your viewing pleasure. |

| January 31, 2010 - A large group of footy fans showed up for the Arsenal vs. Manchester United match at Llywelyn's Pub this morning. It was a shame that Arsene Wenger's boys didn't show up. Let's hope they play better against Chelsea next weekend. See you at Tigin's? |

| December 13, 2009 - A great turnout for the Liverpool v Arsenal match at Llywelyns in Webster Groves.
Unfortunately for the Reds fans, the Gunners came out on top. It was a good time and we were treated well by our host.
Mostly Scousers, some Gooners, all good guys!

October 26, 2009 - Sunday's Harry Keough Day at the Monsignor Meyer Room at Soccer Park was a blast!
As Bill McDermott said: "There are people all over the world watching this match. Few if any have two of their National Team Hall of Famers present" (Al Trost and Harry). This is not to mention former USA standout and current USA coach Mike Sorber. And former USA player and ABC broadcaster Ty Keough. And Mr. Soccer himself, Bill McDermott. And a number of other St. Louis Soccer Hall of Famers were present.
The setup at Soccer Park is fabulous. The food was great as was the service. The big screen is unbelievable. Everyone who attended was impressed. Mike Sorber had a great suggestion: The next event on a Sunday morning we need a priest to say a quick Mass to kill two birds with one stone...so to speak. We'll work on it.
The Athletica folks were happy and one of the cooler things was that a game was being played outside during the second half of the Liverpool v Manc Utd game on the screen. We will definitely return.
Our thanks to Bob Osterholt for providing us with some of the pictures. See the slideshow! |

| October 4, 2009 - A fair sized crowd was on hand to watch the Chelsea vs. Liverpool game at Llywelyn's Pub in Webster Grove on the Sunday morning. It was a great time in a football-friendly environment. There was a free raffle, a breakfast buffet, a beer special served up in Manchester United glasses, and a just about equal number of Chelsea and Liverpool supporters. The Chelsea fans had more to cheer about as their side beat the Reds 2:0. Take a look at the slideshow... |
| Kyle Patterson, a four-year starter at Saint Louis University and now a midfielder for the Los Angeles Galaxy, visited St. Louis over the Labor Day weekend. On Labor Day, Patterson visited with members of the St. Frances Cabrini eighth-grade team; he had coached many of the players with the STL United youth team a couple years back. Patterson is in his first year of professional ball, after a decorated college career at SLU, which followed several years of club ball in his native England. While meeting with the Cabrini players, he spoke to the team at half-time, then stuck around for autographs and a tee-shirt giveaway following the early-morning match. We normally won't post anything having to do with Manchester United and their fans, but thought we might make an exception this time since the image was shown on the
Football Phone-In Show with Nick Webster and Eric Wylander. Take a look! |
August 12, 2009 - Our friend Paul "Duke" Dueker made the journey to Mexico City and the Azteca Stadium with the hope that the USA could finally break the long standing losing streak (22-1-0) against their southern neighbor on their home turf. He will have to make the trip again sometime because the US failed to capitalize on an early lead to lose the game 2:1. Paul had to put up with the taunts, the smog and congestion, but thoroughly enjoyed the food and drink, the excitement of sitting in a crowd of 105,000 football fanatics, the beautiful senoritas, and some great fellowship with his fellow travelers as well as Mexican Nationals. Take a look at the pictures and video...
Also... more pics from a photojournalist following the action. |
| August 1-2, 2009 - The competition in the over 50 bracket in the Mid America Games held annually in Columbia, Missouri gets tougher every year. This year it boiled down to 3 St. Louis teams and a team from Kansas City in the finals. The STL United Seniors managed to secure the Bronze in a very spirited game against another St. Louis team. The gold went to the Mid Rivers team and the silver to a team from South St. Louis. For a larger image of the STL United Senior team, CLICK HERE. | June 28, 2009 - It was standing room only at Barrister's for the Confederations Cup Final between the USA and Brazil. There were quite a few Brazil supporters on hand as well. They were very vocal at the start of the game, but then got quieter after the first US goal and were silenced by the second unanswered US goal during the first half of play. Of course, there was reason to resume the dancing, singing and celebration after Brazil equalized and then went ahead to win the Cup 3:2. A good showing by both teams, a great crowd, good food and lots of beer. Take a look at the pictures and videos. |
| May 27, 2009 - Many, many played hookie from work and home to gather at Barrister's for the Champions League Final between Manchester United and Barcelona FC. Barcelona took home the trophy but all of us enjoyed a great game and the terrific atmosphere. Take a look at the slideshow from the event and watch the video from Channel 11's coverage of the event. |
| May 10, 2009 - Our friend Tom Schwarz just returned from a short trip to Germany. He didn't get to take in any games but he did have the opportunity to make some new footy friends. Check out a couple of snapshots. |
